Communication is one of the most fundamental elements of human life in general, and business administration in particular. Hence, it’s of eminent importance to learn how to communicate effectively to ensure both the organizational and individual progress. Ineffective communication in an organizational context is often the cause of minor mistakes, major strategic blunders, and catastrophic failures. No more what profession does a student wish to pursue, the ability to communicate well will be an essential skill – and a skill that employers expect from students on the verge of entering the workforce.

The course "English for Communication I" is designed to provide BBA (IMP first year) students with a solid foundation by introducing the fundamental principles of business communication. This introductory course gives them the opportunity to develop their communication skills. This introductory course also helps students review their newly acquired communication skills by undertaking activities that aim to help them build their portfolio.

The course delves into teaching students how today’s companies are using blogging, podcasting, video, wikis, and other innovative technologies. It is therefore, critical for the future managers to be well-equipped with the concepts, frameworks, and theories of business communication in order to apply them.The course will discuss the topics from both conceptual and application perspective. Students will learn a simple three-step writing process that works for all types of writing and speaking projects, both in the college during their student life and on the job, as a young professional. Along the way, students will reflect upon ethics, etiquette, listening, teamwork and non-verbal communication.
